Mobile Computing

Mobile communication is a human-computer interaction in which a computer is expected to transport during normal usage. Mobile computing played a significant role in the fields like business and in public sector organizations. There are six major types of mobile computing devices which includes laptop, computers, notebook computers and these three are called portable computers. Personal digital assistants(PDAs), smartphones and portable data terminals are called hand-held computers. Mobile computing involves mobile communication, mobile hardware and mobile software.

Mobile communication includes ad hoc networks, infrastructure networks and it also includes the communication properties, data formats and concrete technologies. Mobile hardware includes mobile devices or device components.

History of Mobile Computing: :

The first mobile computers were developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In 1894, Marconi did an experiment along with hertzian rays and helped to identify the waves over a very long distance. He developed the first consumer laptop in 1980. And later on, the evolution of mobile computing started in the year 2011.

Mobile Computing Applications

Types of Real life applications

Business: :

With the help of a computing system, he or she can represent their ideas like a presentation in front of their clients. If it is in online mode, through video conferencing we can discuss with the team about the projects going on. Suppose, if the travelling salesman wants to access the company’s database, he can retrieve the data on a wireless device and it helps to maintain the consistency.

Traffic: :

When travelling in heavy traffic, if we want to know about the latest news or want to listen to music, we can easily broadcast the data through DAB which is digital audio broadcasting. If we are unaware of the desired location, we use a global positioning system(GPS).

Emergency situations:

Mobile computing plays a significant role in the medical sector. The wireless connection can carry the information from the injured persons and can consult the particular doctor to recover. In worst conditions like earthquakes, tsunami, flood, fire communication plays a vital role with mobile computing. It handles the situation easily.

Replacement of Fixed network:

Wired network has been replaced with wireless network. In wired networks like weather forecasting, earthquake detection, it is impossible to get the environmental data. It is possible when you adapt the fixed network in computing.

Wireless networks are capable of delivering the latest information at any suitable region. Wireless network application lies in entertainment and games for example ad-hoc gaming networks. Infotainment by wireless computing is easy when we compare it with other computing.

Mobile Computing Services:

Cloud computing helps to optimize the resources. Software is the best platform for utilities and applications on the internet in the form of services. In arbitrary wireless network service, it helps to connect with a free network and we can access the data anywhere without time and place limitation.

Mobile computing has a 3-tier architecture which performs various functions.

Advantages of mobile computing

Mobile devices can be used in the field of various instruments, reducing time and cost for customers and themselves. Mobile computing devices can be used for both people and personal use. Cloud computing service is available to save the documents on online servers and when you make an internet connection,we are able to access it at any time and it can be used for mobile devices and even we can access it on PC.

Future of Mobile Computing

The enhancement in AI i.e artificial intelligence has increased the speed of computing terminals,so the future of mobile computing becomes marvelous.

Today’s computing has rapidly grown and it has been confined to a single location because with the help of mobile computing and its resources people can work at their comfort zone. The presence of high speed connections has also promoted the use of mobile computing. So, being an ever growing and emerging technology, it has continued to provide their services at the fullest and also provides the core service in computing, information technology and communication.
